The Byron Shire is a much sort after holiday destination on the North Coast of NSW.
Approximately 800 km north of Sydney and 40 km south of the Queensland border, the Byron Shire is perfectly positioned for a peaceful, relaxing holiday in a temperate, tropical climate.
The Byron Shire stretches from Yelgun in the north along the beautiful beaches of South Golden Beach, New Brighton, Brunswick Heads and Tyagarah to the iconic Byron Bay Beach.
From the coastline the shire stretches west to the townships of Bangalow and Mullumbimby and beyond to the upper reaches of the escarpment.
The picturesque Brunswick River links Mullumbimby and Brunswick Heads by water and is a focal point of the popular Brunswick Valley. Families enjoy the relaxed coastal lifestyle and flock to the holiday parks and other accommodation centres in Brunswick Heads and Mullumbimby.
Byron Bay is a dynamic tourism hub. Its stunning beaches, iconic headland and lighthouse, extensive parklands and eclectic food and retail outlets make it a holiday-makers delight.
Included in the Byron Shire are villages and farming districts such as Main Arm, The Pocket, Yelgun, Montecollum, Huonbrook, Goonengerry, Coorabell, Durrumbul, Myocum, Ewingsdale, Palmwoods and Wilson’s Creek. These areas have beautiful country and coastal views. Breathtaking views can be experienced from many of the country retreats and bed and breakfast accommodation centres dotted along the escarpment.
The township of Ocean Shores, in the north of the valley and historic Billinudgel (home of the famous MA Ring’s Billinudgel Hotel) provide residential and industrial areas for the rapidly growing population of the valley.
